Asia is a Strategically Important Market for ABS

There have been quite a few exciting new developments at ABS in the last few months. I recently traveled to China to promote our new technology with investors and potential strategic partners. We know that the Asian Market is a great business partnership.  The reception was overwhelmingly positive and I look forward to returning in the near future.

Our plans for Asia were recently announced in a press release.  In turn, discussed our decision to embark on a new fundraising initiative to raise an additional $20 million.

We believe our stenting technology can reduce the need for open-heart surgery and save many lives. Clinical trials are expensive to conduct though and that’s why we’re targeting these additional funds.

Our Technology is Unique

The way the ABS system works is unique. Our procedure uses a dual catheter system to simultaneously place stents in both the mother and daughter arteries of a bifurcation lesion.

The goal is to simplify a complex procedure and reduce the amount of errors that occur during surgeries. Using current technology, it’s not uncommon for surgeons to have to replace stents within a few months. We want to eliminate that requirement.

Seeing A Need in the Asian Market

Why the focus on China and Asia in general? Unfortunately, this region has experienced a major increase in incidents of cardiac related illness in the last couple of decades.  It seems to be getting worse. It’s a market that needs innovative companies like ABS to reverse the trend.

It isn’t just China though. Heart disease is on the rise in other major countries such as India and Japan as well. Part of this is because of greater integration with global markets.

Fast-food chains are quite common in this region of the world now as consumers have more disposable income. They’re also leading more sedentary lives as their affluence is allowing for more leisure time.

While efforts are being made to change lifestyles and improve diets, new and innovative medical procedures must be part of the solution as well.

Our expansion into Asia is an important phase in ABS’s development. We’re excited about the prospects and we’re looking forward to developing new partnerships there. The goal is to make sure we’re ready for production in major Asian markets once final regulatory approval has been achieved.

  1. Thank you. China especially is very strategic for ABS. Coronary problems are a global health priority and an opportunity for counties to work together. I love doing business is Asia and China in particular.
